This is a very versatile desk lamp that allows for multiple positions and heights. The height adjustable arms are tv antennas, literally and 6" isn't much travel, so I keep it in the extended position. The housing that holds the 18 led lights swings up and over so the lights shoot upward. The leds are really bright, great for examining things, but can be a little blinding.

Once I discovered the lamp head flips over and acts like a torchiere lamp, this is the main position I use. It provides enough light in my work area without being too bright. Oddly enough, I rarely use this as an actual desk lamp. It's a great value and serves my purpose. If you're looking for a desk lamp to cast light downward, I'd recommend looking at different lamps before buying one to see how much light it emits.

This lamp is acceptable. The brightness is good for reading. The area of illumination is quite focused, as expected, so this lamp is really designed for close small-area work, not for illuminating an entire desk.

The construction is rather disappointing. At least there is a proper metal flip switch, which hopefully will last some years. However, the product is advertised as having a brushed steel finish. From this description, and without being able to clearly judge from the accompanying photographs, one would assume that that this finish is applied to the entire lamp. Wrong. Only the top surface of the base has the brushed steel finish. The base itself, the mounts for the telescoping arms, and the lamp head are instead constructed from ugly grey plastic, which gives the entire lamp a rather cheap and unaesthetic appearance.

The fact that the construction is half-plastic should have been made explicit in the product details. For this sort of cheap construction, the lamp should be no more than $20.

This Normande Lighting LED Desk Lamp is nice looking and well made, but its' limited light output makes it more suitable as an accent light, rather than as a reading light. It also uses the older style "cold" colored LEDs, rather than the newer generation of warmer-colored LEDs, which are more similar to tungsten or halogen light output. Conclusion, a nice little inexpensive LED desk accent light, but not a reading light.

So it's a nice compact light. I chose it specifically for the moveable head and the LEDs I would think would probably never go bad (or last so long I wouldn't care). Other lamps all seem to have special replacement bulbs. My only problem with it is the visible light cast from the LEDs isn't exactly white or a soft white. It is tinted ever so slightly green not quite white. If it was a whiter light, I'd have given it 5 stars.

Nice lamp but odd ball bulb. If you want a cfl replacement good luck since bulb has a intermediate base and cfl replacements stick out of the lamp

I am pretty happy with this piece. I had a little difficulty putting together. I spent about 4 hours by myself (You really do need two people) then had a friend come over and we finished in an hour...but the biggest problem are two screws that they align directly opposite of each other that mess up the drawers. The two screws cannot be made flush since they hit into each other and that makes the drawers unable to slide - solution removed one of the screws and now both drawers slide.

For the money this is a good TV Stand. My 46 in Sony looks great on it.

I have to add my kudos along with the other posters to Way Basics for making a product that is easy to put together AND flexible in design. In this set you are given four horizonal-use boards and nine vertical support boards. Yes, you can quickly put it together the way they suggest, but you can also, say, inset the vertical supports four inches or so in on the top and bottom level and come up with a different look! My one suggestion, though, if you are going to play around with the lay out: set everything out on the floor as if the unit was laying flat on its 'back' (the boards are thick enough to 'stand' on their narrow width) to make sure a)you like the pattern you are planning and b)you have all the pieces for the pattern you are planning. Because once you've pulled back the covering for the adhesive and 'stuck' it, you're pretty much set with where it is. (fortunately not a problem I ran into, although I was working to make two non standard units out of four sets).
I'd also strongly suggest putting it together in the room you are going to use it unless you have the space to leave it where you've built it for 24 hours to set (heavy books on top apparently help this).
All in all a great product, I'd give it a five but there were some dings and slightly warped/crumpled edges (inside a pristine box) - which were only noticeable when you're right on top of the piece, which of course you are when you set it up.
Off to order another unit for my son's room. Love this product!

This is a robust and carefully designed stand over all. The heavy black base is some sort of dense plastic so far as I can tell, with a sturdy aluminum frame hidden beneath to which the aluminum mast attaches with bolts. (By the way, the Amazon illustration makes it look as if that mast is black or dark gray; it is instead a silver, matte aluminum, at least in my stand--a very solid extrusion.)

There were a couple of issues. 1) The ball mounting between mast and the bracket that attached to the back of the tv didn't provide enough friction to keep my 32" LCD TV level, even with its thumb screw tightened down. This may have been because my TV includes a built-in DVD player and thus is heavier on one side. However, the TV also tended to tilt forward. The fix for the unwanted tilting cost me $0.72 for hardware plus the time for a little figuring and drilling. 2) While the two shelves and the TV mount adjust up or down by about 6" via slots in the mast, I wanted the TV mount and one shelf to be lower. Cost was a little time to drill a couple of holes in the mast and relocate the items. The shelves are tempered, smoked glass. They and the bolts & brackets that anchor them are quite sturdy, with the shelves cushioned in flexible, clear plastic to avoid cracking.

The assembly diagrams are simple but clear. All the possible brackets, bolts, nuts, etc. for various permutations of mountings are included, packed in clear plastic sleeves with numbers corresponding to the numbers in the assembly instuctions. One bolt was misnumbered, but there was no real confusion since the assembly diagrams include full-scale drawings of each nut, bolt and washer. When standard assembly is completed the TV will tilt and pan by maybe 30 degrees (my modification reduced this). The TV is positively attached to a stand that would be quite difficult to overturn, even if one tried.

The wire guides are heavy cardboard that one bows and then fits into slots in the back of the mast extrusion. I would say that the jury is out on their durability. Customer photos that I have seen of Sanus's larger stand show dangling cords, which suggests to me that the guides are not of the best. I may replace them with plastic sheet cut to size--or just use duct tape, which would fit within the wire slot and match the mast. Update: I have tried the wire guides out some more, including a lot of pulling on them, and they actually seem secure. It may be that users are not willing to flex the guides as much as required to install them. It seems like they should crease permanently, but they do not and so work well.

This is Sanus's medium size stand, according to the box, and I would recommend paying attention to weight limits and upsizing to the large stand if you have a really big tv or even one near the upper limit. Any reasonably handy person should have no trouble assembling the stand, especially if they don't have the off-balance TV problem that I mentioned. Even standard assembly will take a while, but that is because of the care taken to make the stand sturdy. A non-handy person probably should avoid or find a handy friend.

To sum up, I am quite happy with the stand.

My wife was very skeptical about this piece. She kept wanting to see it physically but we couldn't find it anywhere. We kept looking for a new TV stand because we were moving from out old 27" tube TV to a big screen HD. We looked and looked and I kept coming back to this piece of furniture. It had all of the doors and shelves that I was looking for - a place for DVDs (and even VHS tapes), exposed shelves for components that I always wanted to be well ventilated, and even room for surround sound speakers w/o being obtrusive. Amazon turned out to be even cheaper than Walmart for this piece. Its construction is excellent. It was relatively easy to put together - a piece of cake for anyone who has done any flat-pack furniture in the past. This one was one step better than any of the others I've built because *all* of the parts were numbered. Other manufacturers force you to identify the pieces from the parts list. I even came "armed" with a Sharpie to label the parts when I happily found that they were pre-labeled. Everything fit together perfectly. The only "hard" part was aligning and adjusting the hinges on the doors but even that wasn't hard. It comes with a full back that gets nailed in place. but for my purposes, I left it completely off for easy of cabling. It would be kind of nice if the backing was in 3 separate sections so that the parts behind the doors could be installed w/o the center part where I have lots and lots of cables. But even with the back off, the piece looks great, is very sturdy, and is everything I hoped it would be.

My wife was very skeptical about this piece. She kept wanting to see it physically but we couldn’t find it anywhere. We kept looking for a new TV stand because we were moving from out old 27″ tube TV to a big screen HD. We looked and looked and I kept coming back to this piece of furniture. It had all of the doors and shelves that I was looking for – a place for DVDs (and even VHS tapes), exposed shelves for components that I always wanted to be well ventilated, and even room for surround sound speakers w/o being obtrusive. Amazon turned out to be even cheaper than Walmart for this piece. Its construction is excellent. It was relatively easy to put together – a piece of cake for anyone who has done any flat-pack furniture in the past. This one was one step better than any of the others I’ve built because *all* of the parts were numbered. Other manufacturers force you to identify the pieces from the parts list. I even came “armed” with a Sharpie to label the parts when I happily found that they were pre-labeled. Everything fit together perfectly. The only “hard” part was aligning and adjusting the hinges on the doors but even that wasn’t hard.
